12 Low Sugar Drinks for Starbucks Lovers

We consume too much sugar in our diet. Plain and simple.

Not only do we EAT high amounts of sugar in our food, but we also DRINK a substantial amount of sugar each day. A morning coffee, a lunchtime soda, an afternoon pick-me-up tea, and a dinner time glass of wine can add up to an insane amount of sugar each day, JUST IN DRINKS ALONE!

A great stepping stone to go from INSANE amounts of sugar to a healthy amount is to change up your morning coffee or tea. Starting the day off with caffeine is a must for people! I know I am cranky as heck before my coffee. However, many coffee beverages have so much sugar, instead of giving you a lasting energy boost, they spike your blood sugar and then crash faster than you can say Venti Iced Caramel Macchiato.

Now don’t get me wrong, I LOVE getting drinks from Starbucks. I just don’t love how much sugar and junk they add to their drinks. I mean, a Venti Caramel Frappuccino has 73 GRAMS OF SUGAR IN IT and rings in at 470 calories!!

Even a simple vanilla latte has 31-41 grams of sugar depending on if you order a grande or a venti. I think anything over 10 grams of sugar is a lot in a drink. Unfortunately, MANY of the drinks on the Starbucks menu are well over 10 grams.

So to help you start your day off on a healthier foot, I put together a list of 12 low sugar drinks (all 10 grams of sugar or less) you can order to reduce your overall sugar intake!

1. Iced Caffe Americano

0 grams of sugar

This drink is espresso mixed with water, no sugar or sweetener added.

2. Iced Coffee (no classic syrup)

0 grams of sugar

Iced coffee on its own does not have any sweetener or sugars. For a little flavor and sweetness, ask for one pump of vanilla (5 grams of sugar).

3. Nitro Cold Brew with Sweet Cream

4 grams of sugar

This cold brew drink has a layer of sweet cream foam on top to add a light sweetness to the drink.

4. Iced Skinny Vanilla Latte with Nonfat Milk, Grande

10 grams of sugar

This option is TOO GOOD to be true! The Skinny Vanilla Syrup and nonfat milk drop the sugar content way down.

5. Iced Skinny Mocha with Nonfat Milk, Grande

7 grams of sugar

With this drink, you can have your chocolate, drink your coffee, and lose weight too!

6. Cappuccino with Almond Milk, Grande

5 grams of sugar

The almond milk drops the sugar from 10 grams to 5 grams compared to a regular 2% milk Cappuccino.

7. Espresso con Panna

1 gram of sugar

This drink is just espresso topped with whipped cream. Few ingredients, low sugar!

8. Espresso Macchiato

0 grams of sugar

This is espresso topped with steamed milk and foam.

9. Caffe Misto

10 grams of sugar

The drink is made from brewed coffee and steamed milk for a subtle sweetness.

10. Unsweetened Iced Passion Tango Tea

0 grams of sugar

The grande Iced Passion Tango Tea typically has 11g of sugar in it, but when you ask for it unsweetened, it has 0 grams!!

11. Unsweetened Peach Citrus White Tea Infusion

0 grams of sugar

Make sure to ask for this tea to be unsweetened!

12. Spindrift® Raspberry Lime Sparkling Water

1 gram of sugar per can

As a comparison, a can of Coke has 39 grams of sugar.
